I am wondering if a woman has had a hysterectomy then is it necessary for her to go for yearly pap tests.

Since a woman's yearly pap test is used to check for cervical cancer and a woman who has had a hysterectomy has no cervix or uterus for that matter then the test isn't necessary. I would however remember that ovarian cancer is still possible. The best thing to do is to discuss these concerns with your doctor.

No, assuming the cervix has been removed as it almost always is.

The womb has been cut out and normally what's done is the top of the vagina has been cut away from the womb and sttched up so that you can still have penetrative sexual intercourse as there's still enough room for a penis to go well into the now slightly shorter vagina.

However, there's nothing in there that's likely to go malignant and the pap smear is specifically to test for cance of the cervix which you no longer have.

You still go to you OBGYN yearly, he/she will do the necessary test!
