Please help, I'm thinking of moving to London, but don't have a clue about which areas are a bit dodgy. Was thinking Acton/Shepherds Bush/Ealing area. Any advice appreciated!

All quite nice so long as you're of Asian origin. Anything else and you'll feel a bit out of place.
(and NO, don't start the "racist" nonsense with me - most of that part of London has been colonised by immigrants)

The areas you mentioned are mostly nice, though anyplace tends to have it's dodgy bits. In Ealing, Ealing Broadway is nice. So is Northfields. South Ealing is also nice. West Ealing is okay. I certainly wouldn't call it dodgy, but it's a bit more down-at-heels than some other parts of Ealing. Acton also has it's good and bad parts. Acton Town is nice and a fun place. I'd suggest that as you look at housing you just spend a bit of time in the neighborhood before commiting to a place. If you see families or single women out in the neighborhood then that usually indicates that people think it's safe.

No dodgy areas as such, just dodgy streets. Persons continuously feel Tottenham is bad, however i've lived right here for 10 years (single female, getting home after eleven.00p.M. At night time) and have by no means had issues. I are living in a excellent avenue with pleasant neighbours. Sure there are some streets to restrict, but rather a lot is solely typical people. Most of London is like that.

London is a massive city- I don't think you realise how big it is until you live here. Everyone is really mixed in together, so there are dodgy parts in any area.

I think its more important that you steer clear of living near council blocks as these are the dodgy parts.

Personally I dislike all the areas you have mentioned. If you want to live somewhere lively that is safe I would recommend the following areas:

Clapham, Fulham, East Dulwich, Earlesfield, Putney,

If you want somewhere that has a village feel to it but may be slightly harder to get into town I would recommend:

Richmond, Barnes, Dulwich Village, Greenwich

If you want to live somewhere really bohemian with loads of lively places to go out move near old street/shoreditch or camden, but these can be a little dodgy.

many parts of london are dodgy. there are some lovely parts of se london that i'd recommend. they're cheaper too because they are in the se. Try Westcombe Park and Maze Hill. They're little known parts of Greenwich and Blackheath. V green and leafy. V close to the most beautiful park in London (I think) and with a good few nice pubs around. Only 10-12 mins to London Bridge on the train. Good luck. I've lived in London for 5 years now and although it took some time I absolutely love it now.

No dodgy factors as such, only dodgy streets. human beings continually imagine Tottenham is undesirable, yet I have lived right here for 10 years (unmarried lady, getting domicile after eleven.00p.m. at evening) and performance under no circumstances had issues. I stay in a sturdy street with pleasant neighbours. certain there are some streets to stay away from, yet plenty is only known human beings. maximum of London is like that.

A lot of areas of dodgy and this goes for any city...too many and to localised for me to explain here. I've lived in London for all of my life and every borough has it's bad spots...I would always spend a weekend visiting the places I was thinking of living in...visit the local pubs..get a feel for the area and then make your decision....it will be worth the effort..London can be a pretty scary place..but if you pick the right location it will be the ride of your life..goood luck...

Basically, avoid south and east London (I live in east London). Also avoid Willesden, Harlesden etc... . Shepherds Bush is a good area. Ealing / Acton is ok

im from london no areas are dodgy, for u get all sorts of people in all sorts of places. But what i can say is stay away from housing estates for they tend to have a more concentrated anti social gathering. Streatham is a nice place and selhurst.

East london's not TOO bad, but don't go to Hackney...maybe I'm being stereotypical, but I always hear shootings going on round there. But nah, east London's fine...if you don't mind wading through other peep's spit and dog mess :-) But good luck whatever you decide

They're fine. Out of those three I'd recommend Ealing.
