I unplugged the camera and still had it, and when I plugged my headphones in the I got the same static. I would like to know any suggestions on what might be the sorce of the problem. My soundcard going? The camera install messed with something? My PC is only 2 years old and in very good shape.

Have you got any wireless devices close by, say a telephone or mobile. Even devices such as microwaves will cause this effect. Move them to a different room.
However if this does no resolve to problem then yes you may have a damaged soundcard, or the setting may have been altered.

So.. I had an analogous difficulty in the previous.. I also dropped my computing device some cases, and that i'm accountable of yanking the headphones too harshly as i'm attempting to take them out of the socket.. really the difficulty is that you're headphone jack is now loose.. (it really is what the tech guy who fixed my computing device pronounced).. bottomline, you pick a sparkling motherboard... I have a Dell and that i took the further 3 year finished care equipment so mine develop into coated through my coverage (with Dell).. If that is too expensive and time eating, I recommend determining to purchase a sparkling computing device altogether.. i'm particular you'll get one from Dell for round $500 that'll have each and every thing you pick.... wish this helps... =]
