I haven't had one that fast yet... But, usually they are geared to cruise in the 1,200 - 1,700RPM range.

Oops - I meant to say 2,200 - 2,700 RPMs... My bad!

5th gear is called overdrive for a reason my girlfriend owns one and as an avid pontiac driver, 2000 trans am, you should average below 2500 rpms at 70 on the highway cruising i usualy go about 2200-2400 you need to remember that as a I4 engine its ment to develop power at higher rpms so even if it sounds higher your still not burning any fuel

You're looking around 3000 or higher rpm at 70mph. Those other people who answered around 1700 rpm are nuts.
