I have 5 lamp shades that need cleaning. They all have those plastic things on the inside and cloth on the outside. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to clean them?

I have always washed my lampshades - by dipping the whole thing in a bucket of mild detergent and water. I use a clean, very soft brush to work up the suds, then I rinse thoroughly with a shower head, and finally set the washed shade to drip dry - perched on something suitable, in a ventilated area and away from the sun.
I have never head any problems - even with the pleated, triple- layer natural silk shades.

I always vacuum mine.
When they get really dirty, I wash them in a mild soap and water mixture.
