I set the dishwasher on the pots & pans setting last night about 8ish, this morning when I got up (about 8ish) it was still running. I couldn't hear any water flowing thru it...I opened it and the dishes look clean (they were too hot to touch), but I'm pretty sure that they weren't rinsed. It's making the sound like it's running, only I don't hear the whoosh of the water and when I opened the door there wasn't any water in the bottom part like there usually is....any troubleshooting or DIY repair tips?

I tried it on other cycles, and turned the knob so that it was just on rinse, and still just the motor running and no water....

try running it on another cycle. if that seems right, then it is the timer/setting switch. if not then it's probably the solenoid valve that allows water to flow into machine. if the d/w is not too old it is cost-effective to replace either of these parts.

There might be a problem with the float/overflow switch. Every d/w has a float switch that is wired between the timer & fill valve. Look in the front left or right corner of the d/w bottom. You should see a plastic float that moves up & down (sometimes you have to unscrew a cover to see it). Undissolved soap & other deposits will sometimes cause it to stick in the "up" position, stopping the water from filling. You can usually remove it & clean it. If that's not the problem, it is usually the fill valve & almost NEVER the timer.

i comprehend thingie's no longer a technical time period for some testosterone human beings accessible yet, certain that is a thingy. and that is the launch valve that keeps the water rigidity from the dishwasher from blowing via the pipes. you've gotten really a clog happening on your kitchen plumbing and would pick to have a educated human being come and have a seem on the project.
