Where are you coming from?
Don't be scared, Vancouver and the rest of the lower main land is a wonderful place to live ( born and raised here)
There is so much to do, and lots of work to be offered. Good luck

Due to geography, mountains on one side, water on the other, Vancouver is becoming an expensive place to live. Houses in Vancouver proper average $500K+.
If you don't mind commuting 1-2 hrs, $400K is doable.
As previous posters mentioned, it is a beautiful place to live, with a nice quality of life. Just be sure you have a job. The market tends towards those with a post secondary degree, but there are lots of labour jobs in the area.
For a new family, Calgary has great opportunities. Houses are cheaper and the oil industry has made workers a prized commodity. Still hard to beat the food, location and mixture of people in Vancouver though.

Canada is a wonderful country to live! No reason to be scared. I am sure you will be leaving a lot behind but look forward to the new life, new place, new job, new friends and above all, British Columbia!
We are going through the same, making plans to move to BC in this summer.
Best of luck and certainly, WELCOME TO CANADA!!!

vancouver has the highest standard of living in the world. Its fantastic and beautiful... if a bit boring. It can also be very wet! But go and check it out - like no other city
