Flood your system with Vit. C... at least 2000 mg preferably more. Keep this up for at least 2 weeks.
Of course the oldest remedy in the world : Chicken noodle soup. Homemade preferably otherwise head out to get some Campbells.
Great question and you asked in the right place so you are sure to get many responses.
: ) Good luck and hope you are soon feeling well again !

Homemade chicken soup(Boil chicken with celery, onion, garlic, salt, pepper and 2 TBS chicken bouillon in 8 cups water for @ 2 hours.Strain veggies into strainer and use spoon to smash veggie juice into broth. Either chill and scoop fat or pick up w/ ice cubes), add rice or noodles (@ 4 oz.), Add potatoes, turnips, carrots, parsnips, bell pepper, zucchini, yellow squash (your choice, the more the better), bring to boil, simmer 1 hour. Season to taste. Eat this, drink lots of water and get lots of sleep. This is the best cold cure there is.

I am constantly exposed to sick people and I use zicam (the nose gel type) emergen-c (vitamin powder) and echinacea. Works to get rid of it with minor symptoms not progressing to major symptoms within a few days. But you usually have to start this at the first sign of a cold. But it is worth a shot! Good luck! You can get these items at most any drug store or grocery store / walmart.

Colds are such a pain. If its a virus, which it most likely is, there's nothing you can do but rest, drink plenty of water, and wash your hands often.
If you have health insurance I'd go to the doctor just in case and have them check it out. If it is a bacterial infection, like a bacterial sinus infection, it won't go away on its own and you need medication.
Don't take antibiotics 'just in case'. only take them if the doctor confirms its a bacterial infection. Antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria are already causing plenty of problems in our industrialized countries!

Try eating garlic. It is supposed to strengthen your immune system. Also, stay warm and get a lot of REST. Hopefully it will be gone in a week or less. Good luck.
