I don't like cleaning venetian blinds either. But when I do clean them, what I do is run a tub full of hot water and either bleach or lysol, then soak the blinds while I'm cleaning the windows. Then I take a cloth and wipe the slats off and let them dry a while before I hang them again.

Take a soft cloth or towel, get it wet, wring it out, put some of the new Windex-Multi Task cleaner on your cloth, swipe back and forth and change the angle of the blind and do again--clean in about 4 minutes.

Stick them in the bath tub with soap and water, then rinse. If you have a wooden clothes drier put it in the bath tub and put the blinds over it to dry. If not and you have a towel wrack in the bath tub hang them over that.

I always wash them in a tub of soapy water.
Though I like lovingwifes answer better.

When I was little, my mother would take them outside, wash them down with the water hose, put soap on them, us a broom to scrub them, and rinse them with the water hose.

They are so cheap I take mine down and go buy new ones. Nasty job and I won't do it.
