Sure, why not. Although im not too sure how well long distance relationships work. Dating is not a problem but some parents (of Indian guys) could have a problem if their son would like to marry a non-indian girl probably because they feel that they are culturally very different and may not fit in the family.

Just to add some more info. In India, kids at most homes are given far lesser degree of freedom than what you are accustomed to in the US. Hell, it was difficult for me to get permission to date a fellow Indian girl.

Attitudes are changing rapidly ofcourse and in most bigger cities there are quite a few good places to meet and date eligible young Indians.

It depends on what do you mean by "allowing".There is no such thing as a religious or social norm or rule that prohibits that but, just as like some parents of american girls might find it difficult to accept a boy from a different community, same thing holds true here as well;it just varies from person to person.I have my cousins living in different parts of USA on the eastern coast, but although some of them may be open to such dates, still, as far as my first cousin(he lives in virginia) is concerned,I know he will not be allowed to do so.So,it just depends on the family values and not on anything else.

I"m married to one. :)

Most "educated" people in India are fine with this. It's the old folks or people that lack a spine that don't step up and take a stand for what they feel in their hearts. As my hubby says, "Traditions were made for people...........People were not made for traditions!"

He didn't have to change his citizenship- nor did I. ;) That's silly!
