More precisely: I want an application which can be used to create data entry forms which can be put on a website which can be used with any browser. I don't care what backend database is used behind the scenes. I am looking for an application to create these forms which can be operated as easy as Microsoft Access.

What you are really asking is far from simple becuase just putting a data entry field on web page won't really do much. You need to "wire together" that form to a datastore, build around that to make the form usable, and figure out a way to retrive the data entered.

You can do this without hiring (or becoming) a web programmer. The simplest way is probably to investigate a hosting company that provides simple forms support -- that way THEY have preconfigured templates for various data entry.

You need not move you whole site to a different provider, but it might easier

I would recommend having Access link to a database hosted on a webpage if you want to do it that way. Otherwise, no.

Access 2007 has the feel of access for the front end, but you can have any backend database that you want, such as SQL Server 2005.
