C is a language developed for the programming of Unix back in the day. It gives the programmer the power of writing direct assembly code, as well as using higher-level programming abilities too.
It is a very powerful language used typically for embedded programming within a large number of organizations, but there are likely billions of lines of code written in C out there, but likely only millions are debugged.

"C" is a general-purpose, procedural (in that you tell the program what to do in step-by-step instructions) programming language developed in 1972 by Dennis Ritchie.
There have been newer, revised versions of C, the most popular two are C++ and C#
