I have cell phone from Virgin mobile and it is Pay As You Go. my mom says that I can get a cell phone from Verizon Wireless and that she will add it to her account on Verizon, but I have to pay for text messaging, web browsing,and stuff like that.

It may be less expensive to add you to her account, but texting and other stuff can really add up.

If you have a job or receive any kind of regular allowance, then I think it would be a mature thing of you to pay for that extra stuff, no matter how old you are.

I had to pay for my own with a monthly bill and everything when I got my first job.

I say when you're old enough to get a job. I guess around 16 years old. As long as you have a job and make your own money then go right ahead. When you turn 18 you are able to get your own phone and contract.

I would say that most providers would only give you your own billing account, in your name, at 21 years old or older. You would be entering into a contract, which you can only do age 21 and up. Before then you would need to at very least to have your mom co-sign; but probably it would have to be in her name.
