I am writing an essay on Tolstoy and his idea of "good" art. I am looking for modern sources regarding the argument of "good" vs. "bad" art. I'd like to be able to support my personal opinion of art being a personal experience, not something that can be understood universally. I am also of the opinion that sometimes "underground" or more obscure themes bring about a feeling of discovery in the viewer/reader/listener. Digging for the meaning can bring a feeling of satisaction.

Andy Warhol is good art. Forty years ago, Warhol was bad art. How time changes thoughts? Time changes everything. Like other forms of economics, good art today could be determined by the money value. How much are people will to pay for it? Van Gogh sells for $50 million therefore it's good art. In the 1980s, East Village painters in NYC were getting thousands of dollars for their artwork. Today, the same paintings are worth about $20. Time changed their artwork from good to bad.
