I'm going to go with Fender. I own Fender and Gibson guitars, Gibson osunds a lot more generic and plain, Fender guitars got a signature tone that sticks out.

I've got a Gibson Les Paul Junior with a slim tapered neck, i can honestly say... The P-90 is phenomenal. A very, very good pickup. The slim tapered neck is an advantage as it's easier for players with smaller hands like myself. Anyway, back to the point. I've played Fender guitars that are quality, and some that didn't quite feel right. Exactly the same with Gibson models. It's all about your personal tastes. Think of it like Harry Potter (Apologies for making this analogy), "You don't choose the wand, the wand chooses you". Personally, it's a Gibson for me. Just.

i agree dude. apples and oranges.
Fenders are way more lightweight, and easier to play. The necks are thinner, more lightweight, and they are curved on the front for ease of stringbending. telecasters have a more twangy sound, its just the way they are. And strats are basically the Mcdonalds of guitars. but mcdonalds is delicious, just like strats have great tone and is easy to play.(i own one)
Gibsons are way heavier ( those babies around your neck wiegh a lot i think!) and the neck is thicker, the frets arent as curved like fenders and is flat, but still, thay play nice and have a great distinct sound. They are definitly more hardcore. So if this were a dinner, fenders would be the Micky-D's drive through, and gibsons would be a thick steak and mashed potatoes. Whichever way you go, they both are amazing guitars. you can't go wrong.

You didn't ask a question!!!!! for what its worth I'd describe Gibson as having a warmer sound and Fender as having a harder edge apart from maybe the telecaster which was quite soft, It really depends what kind of music your going to be playing.

I find the main difference is in the physicality of playing them. Fenders feel radically different and I prefer the v-shaped maple necks. They're also almost indestructible and you can play them harder. I'm always a little reticent to 'dig in' with my ES-335...

In terms of tone? Well, with all today's processing gear and what-not, it's a moot point really. You can make ANY guitar sound the way you want.

I have both.
You can't go wrong with either one of them.
Also depends on what sound you want on different songs.
