I have always used Norton and have never had any problems with it. I find it easy to use which makes me feel confident as i know how to use it and am sure it is doing the job properly. I brough my last Norton Internet Security off Ebay for half the price as it is in the shops. A Bargain for a years peace of mind.
I have heard that AVG is good and gets plenty of good reviews but have never tried it.

They both pretty much do the same thing, except norton is supposedly more effective. I'd get AVG or another computer security program though, because there are many people nowadays that know that Norton is such a good antivirus... so they make new viruses to aim at Norton antispyware, antivirus and internet security, so it's not worth the risk using Norton. I've used AVG Free for about 6 months and I've had no problems.

I think I would say AVG, as I lost two computers while I was using Norton, my one and my daughter's one who lives 10 miles from me, both of our hard drives just emptied, and also my daughter is a limewire down load fanatic and has never had any trouble since I put her on AVG, the only thing with the free version you need to check from time to time for updates if you do not have your computer on all the time.

I would say AVG is better, a lot of viruses that are about are aimed at targeting Norton and Mcafee the big names. I have had AVG for a long time now and never had any probs, also AVG is FREE

I find AVG better, Norton is a pain in the bum, it stops downloads and causes a lot of problems. Go for AVG. Ad-Aware and Defender, all free.

Norton:
Costs money, uses more resources, is targeted by viruses to disable it, uses more space on your hard drive, interferes with other programs that do similar things (including your firewall), tries to do more than one thing.
AVG:
Free, uses less resources, updates daily, doesn't take up much space, does one thing and does it well.
I, personally, use AVG and Zonealarm (firewall) - both are free and work very well.
I also haven't had an issue in years - the main reason? I use Firefox - it doesn't let in the nasties that IE does.

They both do the job.
If you have acces to both choose the one you feel is easier for you to use & understand.
If you don't, then try AVG before dishing out any cash.
I've used most all the top names & never got a virus with any of them ... considering my "activities" & all the warez sites I visit ... that's a miracle in itself.
It's got more to do with proper configuration & use than anything else.... trust me ... I've been in this business since before some responders here were born. Reviews are helpful but ususlly don't hold that much water as most are arbitrary in their tests.
