I'm applying to be an RA at my college and sometime this afternoon is my group interview. They basically put me with 6 other applicants and assign us a task as a group. We have to formulate ideas and organize sometime of event or the scenario might be an emergency scenario.. either way they don't tell us.. They want to see if we can think on the spot and see how we can improvise..Any tips?

If as a group: Keep your cool. when an emergency comes up:

Ask what is the first thing you do? For fire or medical, call 911. For others, call a person in higher authority.

Next: Assess the emergency, figure out the best way to deal with it, plan, and implement the plan.

If the emergency is say, a fight in the hall, then you would call the dorm head resident, see if you can stop the fight, and then stop it using whatever means required that does not cause injury or harm to you or others.

Good luck- I hope that you do not get people like me on your floor. My buddies and I gave our RA hell. We were bad enough that he quit and moved off campus.

Some of the things that happened on our floor:

There was a person that liked to shoot fireworks down the hall; posting pornography on the bulletin board (we were all male and not coed), clogging the toilets and setting them to flood, clogging the shower drains and flooding the hall, fights, drinking, breaking into the RA's room and turning over his furniture while he was gone over the weekend, vandalism, theft, and many other things that would probably have gotten us arrested.
