Mine is part of a Fridge-Freezer rather than a Chest. I cook up batchs of food and need to freeze them as quickly and efficiently as possible?

If the air inside the freezer is not circulating, the coldest place is obviously in the neighbourhood of the freezing panel.

Cold air tend to drop on the bottom of the vessel - the bottom of the unit may also be a cold site, indeed.

It would be better to put a thermometer in different levels of the freezer unit to be sure of the temperatures. Let it stay several hours in every level - but do not put it in water, however, which is recommended when checking the temperatures over 0oC!
