I sprained my ankle yesterday, in gym. it's swollen and hurts. I also have a bruise on my right knee.
Tonight, I have a huge winter ball. The swelling is pretty bad still. Is there anything I can do to hide the bruise and make the swelling/pain a little better? I really want to have a good time, and so far things are a mess. Can someone help me, please?

Elevate the ankle and ice it for 10-15 min @ a time to bring down the swelling. Also motrin ,advil, or aleve will help if taken as directed. If you have an ace bandage wrap it up. The bad news is this: if you were planning on wearing nice high heels you will have to go out and get some cute little flats.(Get something plain and bling them up for fun and fashion.) As far as the bruising, try wearing some dark nylons if they would look good with your dress. there are medical cosmetics that will cover up scars and other deformities, but you mat not have much luck finding them on such short notice. Last piece of advice,Either bring crutches or be prepared to sit alot.gl.

Ibuprofen / advil is what my son had to take 400 mg every 4 hrs. for pain an swelling. Aslo keep elevated as much as possible and limit your dancing. the ace bandage was also suggested to support his ankle.

Would suggest you do not wear heels if possible.

Hope you enjoy your ball.

stay off your leg completely until you go... keep it elevated such as on a couple of pillows... above the level of your heart... ... Take anti-inflammatory medications.. such as both tylenol and ibuprofen at the same time... every couple of hours (as much as your stomach can handle)... this may help... but if it is already swollen up and has color... there may not be a significant change by this eve.... good luck...--- yes cold compresses will supress additional fluids from moving into area... this again maybe all too late depending on when the injury occured... :-?? and i like the make up idea...

Maybe go shoe less? It's not going to be gone by tonight. Wear tight stockings to help and maybe even an ace bandage. Hopefully your date will understand. If not, he's not worth it.
