I brought a purse on Ebay for a really good deal, but when I got it, there was an odor. So I sprayed some febreze on it....that took one odor away...and brought out the true order....which is cigrette smoke. How can I get rid of that nasty smell?!!!!!!!!!!

I have the perfect solution that i use myself for similair problems. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an activated carbon filter inside that is really great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays. Just throw one in your purse. No messy pieces or carbon powder to worry about. You can also place one in many other areas. The carbon filter in this product literally eliminates the odors and works for a long time. I use this product everywhere including my fridge and freezer and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it and it's not expensive. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying. It's the best product for any odors around the house.

I'd wash it, if it is possible. If it is not a washable purse, try the dry cleaners. Febreeze only masks the odor. Otherwise, can you try a leather cleaner/conditioner? OR just keep it outside in your garage for a week/month, etc. until the smell goes away.

There are odor absorbing crystals, I got mine at Bed Bath&Beyond, but check the web. You put them in and the absorb the odor. I used some in an odd smelling linen closet when we moved in, and, of all things, in an old mid century doll that had a distictive sour odor from the type of plastic used. In both cases it was quite successful.
