The HP series, the series that we grew up with is almost over! When I heard the date, sweeties in a way I cried and in a way I was happy and if I get that job at Barnes and Noble this summer, then I'll my last one for free. But my real question is this: How're you guys taking it?

I'm too excited about finding out what happens in the last book to start mourning yet, and then i think it will be a few months until it starts to sink in that there will be no more HP books...but i think I'll go back to reading from the beginning...and then hopefully she'll write more books :)

There isn't much better praise for an author than to have his/her fans upset that a series (or even a book) is coming to an end.

I've really enjoyed the HP series and I think JK Rowlings is one of the best writers I've had the pleasure of reading in a long time, not just the stories, but her style.

I'm going to miss Harry and the gang, BUT I will also be looking forward the whatever Ms. Rowlings has in store for us next.

It's just a book

Besides, odds are it won't be the last. History is full of last books that turned out not to be. L. Frank Baum on more than one occasion wrote the "last" Oz book, but then bowed to public demand for more.

Rowling may take some time off, but eventually there will be more visits to Hogwarts. I guarantee it!

Better to end the series while the author is still turning out good work. Many series drone on and I loose interest.

Well everybody knew it was going to be the last one, because it's the seventh year. I'm kinda upset because JK Rowling said that she doesn't want anybody else to write sequels to her books, so that probably means she is going to kill of Harry.. which I hope she doesn't. She did say that she's killing off two of the main characters... which isnt very good. I hope its going to be good. I mean her last two books were kinda boring until the very end. I hope its more like the first four books... they were definitely more exciting.

As a mom, I can say "IT'S ABOUT TIME!" Two of my kids grew up and left the house before she finished writing the series.

It sucks. I know .I saw in the news they are setting helplines in UK to help people cope with the trauma and all. I just don't want anyone to die!
