1) It is not Kutna Hora (which is a town not far from Prague that has it's origins in a silver mine) that is made of bones,

but rather a CHURCH within it..that you are referring. This church is called SEDLEC OSSUARY or (KOSTNICE SEDLEC/ BONE CHURCH) Though this is NOT actually made of bones but a normal church which is decorated with them

2)The reason for this is because in the in the 13th century a Cistercian Abbott called Henry went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land..and brought back some soil from Golgotha..
He scattered the soil on the century in Sedlec..

So now the cemetery was considered Holy Ground
and many people wanted to be burried there for that reason..

By 1318 because of the black plague over 30000 bodies had been buried there..

An ossuary was first built in the cemetry in 1511 to hold the bodies and make room for new bodies to be built.

It was in 1870 when the ossuary was decorated with bones.. A local wood cutter had been hired by the ruling Shwartzenberg family to clear up the bones again.
He used the bones over 40000 he for his use to decorate the inside of the ossuary. And that is why the ossuary in Kutna Hora is now famous for the Bone Church.
