The decision making of Thomas has been the worst any GM has ever done in the history of sports. But has he been equally bad in coaching this New York team of overpriced, underachieving busts?

No, Isiah is a good coach and has the patience to let his team grow instead of yelling at them at every turn (Larry Brown). They'll probably win between 30-35 games this year which is improvement from last season. His GM skills aren't anything to brag about though...as everyone knows

I think it is a combination of both.

Zeke put together a very "talented" squad unfortunately, they stop right there. Marbury/Francis are good guards but have the wrong mentality to be on the same team. Little Nate is growing into the same form. they are much better when they are looking for there own shots rather than finding for others.

The Knicks could be a great team, if they had a Kidd/Nash/Bibby type player. But that all falls on GM Thomas...

Coaching Thomas has somewhat made this team better than last year...but if you ask me Larry Brown could have done the same, it wouldnt take much.

Overall....Thomas is the reason why the Knicks are busts.

Isiah Thomas the coach has done an ok job. The Knicks have almost as many wins as they did all last season. As a GM his record is spotty at best he was the GM in Toronto and coach in Indiana before coming to New York. The Eddie Curry trade seems to be a good one. That Carpetbagger Larry Brown was worse last season. and Danny Ange, Kevin McHale are worse GMs.

It is both Isaiah as the coach and GM. I grew up in Detroit. He has a huge EGO, he will not listen to advice from others...basically it is his way or else. He was a great player, and was in line for ghe GM position w/the Pistons when he retired. Thankfully, the owner decided not, and waited a couple of years and asked Joe Dumars to be it's GM. Great decision. I feel bad for the Knick fans, you hv a great history, and deserve to be a contender again!!!

It's the GM Thomas. The coach has actually done an ok job.

It's not the coach that's on the court or the GM but the buck stops at the coach so give him the blame, but if we blame him for the lose we must blame him for the improved record I blame the Coach and the GM for the improvement of the team

I think all the above answers hit on an aspect of it. Isaiah deserves credit for being a great player - period. The attitude of the Knicks players is disgraceful. Combine bad management, bad coaching, arrogant and overpaid players and what do you get? The Knicks. Too bad, too. We live nearby and I'd love to be a fan, but I can't watch them anymore.

BOTH, star players never make good coaches and rarely GM's, he's a disaster from beginning to end. Choosing players with the same scoring styles and mentality. A multi-million dollar mess.

He would not be hired as GM or Coach if he was not the player he was. People overlooked his achievements as a player and think he can be as successful as he was as a player.

Whatever it is, the Knicks should rebuild from top management to players.

It's GM Thomas that has made them so bad. He has made some horrible descions and he is certainly paying the price for that this year, now that he is coaching.
