It used to work with Windows Home edition, but after Xmas I installed Windows XP Pro which comes with some modified features (programmes such as Tune Up, Safe XP, quick log-on...).
General speaking, that is a modified Windows version.
It runs quite well, very fast and stable. The only problem is I can't use my network drives which is in a LAN network of my university anymore. The Internet works OK, just mapping is not. Also when I tried to connect to a remote printer (in the library) it doesn't work as well.

Are there any modifications I need to make to the system or to the registry database?

I mean I tried everything I could like install File and printer sharing options (windows components) or try to log on after stopped at the welcome screen for at least 30 seconds (windows support), or tried to re-setup the local network connection, disabled firewall.... even turned on all the possible services of windows (some are disabled automatically at first)

Anyone helps please?

First you want to ascertain the relationship. Mapping achronic is the merely precise level. do no longer percentage the wholechronic. percentage the folders you require in my view. Sharing C: can enable unintentional overwriting, transferring or deleting equipment intense archives, trashing the server gadget. there is no recycle bin over the community. to attach with a folder you first favor to set it shared with assistance from precise clicking it and turning on sharing. Then open the exceptions for document and printer sharing contained in the firewall. you ought to make constructive all machines are interior an identical workgroup. you ought to then manage to browse to the folder in community on Vista, My Networks on before OS. (XP view all networks/Microsoft Networks/ and then you be conscious your workgroup.) it truly is going to reveal any gadget with a folder or printer set shared. in case you do not see it you won't be able to mapchronic. in case you won't be able to see the gadget bypass for your community connection, precise click it and decide tcp/ip and then houses. bypass to stepped forward and swap on Use Netbios Over tcp/ip. turn off Use LMHosts. it may soak as a lot as twenty minutes for a gadget to look contained in the browser. in case you nevertheless can no longer see it, try checking its' IP cope with and then starting My computing gadget and form : 192.168.a million.3sharename (or inspite of cope with it truly is). this can get you in. If this does no longer you've a networking problem. If it does and also you nevertheless can no longer see it with assistance from call it truly is often Netbios became off or a gadget contained in the community attempting to be the draw close browser unsuccessfully. As a very last hotel set all machines to apply Netbios ove TCP/IP. once you could browse to it with assistance from call you could then mapchronic in case you actually favor to.

Are you using the same MAC address as you were e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx (where xxx = the old address from XP home)

If not the university firewall could be blocking you.
