my wife and i and newly wed and in iraq. i work with her all day and then im with her all night. heres the deal. i play world of warcraft. i just got the game and in about 5 days i have made it to level 11. my wife went crazy on me the other day when i had 24 hours down time and she decided to come home early on the second day i owned wow. i wanted to play and she knew this but came home and threw a fit when i played from about 10 am to about 630 pm(i did lay in bed and talk with her for about an hour and ahalf when she got home about 1:30pm . im a guy and when we get a new game we play the hell out of it. with saying this he is the question "was i out of line to play that long or should she be more understanding?

Does she enjoy games at all? Have you included her in the wonderful world of Azeroth? What character do you have? Mention things like, "honey it would so help if I had a priest to group with", or druid or something that complements your character. Offer to help her start a character on her own account. Ask her to watch the game, explain it to her, tell her about the dragons, undead and the evil that is spreading. But of course if she hates video games of any kind and has no imagination, nothing you do is going to help. Do like my boyfriend and I did. Set one day to be WoW day and one day to just be with her and do things she likes. :) Thankfully we both play WoW so I hope you 2 get to enjoy this game together too. Be prepared though, if she is into video games, her goal will be to OWN you. LOL

i don't think you were out of line - you did take time of to spend with her (she knew it was a new game to you and should respect that some (unless you hadn't gotten to spend time together in the last two weeks or so... then maybe you should have tried spending more time with her). anyway, but wow is best played with moderation (as one of the loading screen tooltips says) - try and split your wow time with your wife time as much as you can (and it will be difficult - its an addicting game!).

does she have any inclination toward games? do you have two computers? if so, suggest she try playing the free 30-day guest pass that comes with the game. and help her level up her own character. my husband and i play together and we love it - we do still make time to do things outside the game - and occasionally i'll get antsy if we play too much (which will always turn into a date night out of the house) - but it is something we enjoy doing together.

technically, neither one of you were in the wrong.sometimes women feel left out when their guys sit and play a game for hours, and jealous because its getting all the attention. try taking a 10 or 15 minute "i love you" break every couple of hours. it couldnt hurt and will probably appease her.
