my family is interested in getting directTv. at my fathers house he has Dish. can anyone tell me whats so great about directTv? is it cheaper?

I don't think any of the cable/satellite outfits are any less expensive than the other. So it pretty much comes down to content. For me, DirecTV is all about getting exclusive content like the NFL. No one else has the NFL Sunday Ticket package, which allows you to watch out of market area games on Sundays. And they carry NFL Network, which some cable carriers don't.

Well, you can pause live TV, rewind live TV, record live TV even if you've already started watching the show, just leave it on for a few extra minutes. You can also see whats coming on next or whats on.
