During WW2 the Russians were occupying a lot of territory including the Northern area of Korea, and out of fear of the spread of communism the U.S. tried to occupy the Southern portion. The country was then divided into two halves, the north being Communist, the South becoming democratic.

Colour, the North has a little more of a yellow tint which makes them think they were the superior race, but the Southies who were fairer thought that was stoopid and wanted to proof that was not the case. So they fought and the winner would be proven right....
