I think because we have to let go of the past in order to move on..then the ghosts can leave too

I don't know but this is a really haunting question...
I am betting because we see what is going on now in terms of how the past went, and this filters and distorts our perception of reality.
But that's just my opinion, and I was wrong once in 1987.

I look back my past sometimes even though it hurts terribly. It's sad but reminds me of never to be the way I was.
