I don't read a lot of romance, but I like
1. Pride and Prejudice.
2. Jane Eyre.
3. The Odyssey (if you find Homer a bit hard going the poet Simon Armitage has written a wonderful adaptation. In particular the last few sentences of this version are very romantic).
4. The Course of Honour by Lindsey Davis (about the Emperor Vespasian and a freed slave).
5. The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCollough
6. Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters
That's as many as I can think of for romance. I'm more of an action/adventure/crime fan.
