Get a large poster of the table, and put it up on the wall. Every day, memorize 2 elements, 10 a week. Review every week, and have someone test you on it. After 11 or 12 weeks, you should have learned the whole thing.

It is not as common these days for people to have to memorize the periodic table because even chemists with Phd's refer to the table constantly. As long as you have one on hand at all times when you are dealing with the subject, you should be fine. You will need one regardless if you are dealing with electronegativities, molar masses, masses, etc.

Over time you will, unintentionally, end up memorizing most of the elements, or at least the most common.
