I think the more we try to make the same-sex families an issue.. the more it will become issue. We need to get over our biases and recognize that there are families that have same sex parents. The children do not think about sex when they think of their parents, for them it will be merely two people in love who have a family.

I have 4 children ages 20, 12, 6 and 1. We live in the south and in a very Small community so our children will never see a video like that. However.. with teenagers in the house and programs like MTV "NEXT" and other programs like that the younger children have seen homosexuality on TV. And to be honest I think if they are old enough to ask questions about it then they are old enough to know. My 6 yr old knows that love is love regardless of ones gender. We don't make a big deal about it and hopefully when she grows up she won't either. I try to shelter my children from violence and drugs on TV but not homosexuality.

Sorry I don't agree with you at all. Eight and Nine are excellent ages in which to introduce the concept of diversity(if not earlier) and the fact that some families DO have same-sex parents.
This isn't about teaching a child the mechanics of sex, this is bringing an awareness that it exists and the fact that it is not a bad thing.

I disagree, that is a good age to introduce different lifestyles to children, plus you have to consider this what do you think children that are younger than that are introduced to that are raised from infantcy in home of same sex partners? Those children are seeing it from the ages of 2 or so.

The main cuase of discrimination is fear of things that are different, introducing the idea same sex relationships at a young age will make children see that it is not something to be sniggered at but is normal fir some people

Children are more astute than they are given credit for. There is nothing wrong with them being shown that families consist of a variety of family members, including parents of the same gender.
I'd be more comfortable exposing kids to families with same sex parents than I would be exposing them to the "O'Reilly Factor". Now THAT is harmful.

I am also gay and have an 9 year old son. He is a real smart kid and even though my partner (now ex.) and I did our best to not go over board in our affection in from of him he figured it out any way. He was cool with it and even mentioned other kids at his school that had parents of the same gender. The kids at his schooll, it turns out, have no issues with gays etc.
By the way, my son was 6 when he figured it out.

Some children are struggling with homosexual issues at that age, and it may help some of them open up to someone about the issue. I think children should be helped from the earliest age possable.

They are to young to see videos like that. The videos might change the children's sexual oreantation. The videos shoud be shown to them at about the age of 13-16.

No, that's not too young. They see these couples everywhere now and should be taught that they are as normal as everyone else. Kids are not stupid, they need to be taught the right way as early as possible.
