well, you might have problems with either. Properly mixed, the cement is stronger. However, the finish is coarser, which can work for you or against you depending on exactly the effect you want. Do you want to be able to reuse the molds over an over? if so, neither is that great. neither will give you sharp details either.

the latex molds backed by fiberglass is the only way to go for sharp detail and the ability to cast numbers of them. the absolute best way to go for some things is lost wax casting, but is very difficult to do in a home set up. What material are you casting into the molds? that makes a big difference in the method you choose too. If using bronze or the like, lost wax is the only real choice. if using clay slip, the latex backed by plaster or fiberglass is the way to go. calcium carbide can work pretty well too. Experiment, see what works best for your particular thing.
