If you're just taking Sociology 204 for some requirement then it will just be very basic information and, as someone else mentioned, will consist mainly of lecture.
You will start the course learning about the founders of Sociology such as Comte, Durkheim, Weber, Marx, Spencer, and/or Mead. Along with the founders you will also learn about the three major perspectives, Functionalism, Symbolic Interactionism, and Conflict Theory.
After learning about the foundation of Sociology as a science you will then learn how it is actually used as a science and will talk about research methods.
The bulk of an introductory Sociology class discusses group interactions and structures. You learn about the norms that guide behavior as well as how members in a society interact. Another important part of this is culture.

Don't worry about doing sociology if you like it a lot, unless you want to do natural sciences at cambridge (because you study at least two sciences so you need bio, chem and / or physics). universities will only care about the other three. However you can only do it for AS level, otherwise it would affect your chances of getting into top uni's for sure. But other than that, don't worry about it. If you enjoy it, there's no reason to stop it. and it will mean an easy A. Also taking Maths, Economics , Chemistry & Biology would probably be pretty difficult with little advantage anyway

Sociology seeks to explain and predict patterns of behavior across a given society. Depending on teacher...speeches or group work. Have a B.S. in sociology, never did any group work, but did have to teach an Anthropology class as a requirement.

no probably just lectures
u will start of by mentioning the different perspectives of sociology
as a background i suggest u read a bit about: functionalism and conflict theories.
u will be taking about society, socialisation, culture, subculture, family, education, effects of media, deviance to norms and crime, politics, classes of society,
u ll be mentioning people like Marx, Webber, dahrendorf, Durkheim, Engels, Gramsci & Robert E park just to name a few.
take a look at this site there is a lost of all the topics that sociology covers which is basically everything that u can think of. but since this is not ur main area u will probably mention only the stuff i mentioned up here
