I agree. With so much negativity and hate in the world who cares if two people from the same sex find solace in one another? Does it really matter? Is it really anyones business but their own?

I find it highly amusing that people like 'ramarro smith shadow' are espousing their hate in a room titled 'Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered'... Do your parents or friends know you hang out here? What are you scared of? It's easy to bully people from behind your computer isn't it? Coward.

I don't care - if people want to be homophobic that's their business as long as they are not in a position where they can stop someone from getting a promotion on the grounds of their sexuality or some other similar situation. Why does everyone want to force allp eople to think, feel and believe the same things. Let people be for goodness sake. Some people are never going to be comfortable around homosexual people - accept it or you are as intolerant as they are.

I agree-same question just worded differently.
It's like most things in life that are an issue on a large scale-folks won't change their minds unless they get hit in the head with it real hard. Example: Global warming-most will just go on with their lives as they have been doing until they are the victims of a storm. Same is true about folks and Gays. In this case though the religious groups have been at the forefront-affronts to God etc.
God made us too and you would think the religious folks, who say they walk in Christ's path, would understand that, but they don't sadly.

Why when we are in 2007 not 1907 are there still so many homophobic people around?

A: the rise of Right Wing Evangelical Christianity, Radical Islam and Orthodox Jewry.

That's it in a nutshell

I think low mental rate can explain homoPHOBIA but you have to remember that hetrosexual people just cant imagine being in a same sex relationship. The best a gay person should hope for is unconcerned tolerance. The problem is that gay people use their sexual orientation as their catchall excuse for non conformity. Their gay "sheild" becomes a weapon that threatens hetrosexuals..

And what happens when anyone is threatened? Fight or flight...
Luckily most of the "fight" is verbal. And the "flight"? Ignoring them.

Its only when the issue is forced that people HAVE to "fight".

Because main stream culture isnt prepared to show gay people and lifestyles as "normal", it's always the straight way of life thats shoved in your face, and thus that becomes "normal" anything else is seen as "abnormal"

well i think some ppl are still homophobic for 2 reasons. 1) they're parents taught them it was wrong from the time they were young so that's what they believe. 2)they very much could be afraid to find out that they themselves are bi or gay so they cover it up by bashing

This is a situation where one is likely to be judged as wholly in favour or homophobic, which is inaccurate. As a Christian I have to acknowledge that The Bible advises against the sex act between men as not acceptable to God. Therefore those that practice this risk losing the hope of eternal life. So, I hope for their sake they change and would offer support for them to do so. Note that for those who remain celibate there is simply no problem faith wise. Like many of the rest of thus they are simply resisting a personal inclination because The Bible has advised against it. Finally it is not for any true Christian to hate those who do not subscribe to God's word. Hate is part of false religion.

I don't waste my time trying to understand them. It's their decision to hate people who are different from them and it's sad because hate only hurt the ones who harbor it. Some can change the way they feel by just getting an understanding on homosexuality but i wouldn't hold my breath for that. It's very sad in my opinion!!

There is a saying, "you can take a horse to water, but you can;t make it drink".
Throw as much education at people as you like, you cannot make all of them understand.
Notice how often (despite the number of times it is answered) we get the same question or variation of it : "Are gay people born that way or is it nurture?" I rest my case!
