Most manufacturers claim between 500-1,000 rewrites on a single piece of media. Here's an extract from the article's conclusions:

"In almost all cases, the writing quality was good while in some, simply excellent...After 100 burns, the media were all still in good condition for which we didn't have any doubt since most manufacturers declare 500 burns or more as their limit."

dvd+rw disks are more delicate than the usual cds that u get. if u write them at 4x, then the quality remains intact for a fairly long time.u can rewrite it 60-140 times.
sony cds offer a good performance.

a dvd-rw
basically means a dvd thats re=writable.

you can re-write that dvd numerous times...and yes, it will lose a bit of the quality because of wear and tear.
but from my personal experience
you can re-write atleast a 100 times.
hope this helps!
