Unlimited.

Hatred is always poisonous to the person who hates, and it can lead to a downward spiral of hating and being hated that leads to a hellish life/lives of suffering.

Hatred is "negative" energy that you (much more than the other person) feel harm-fully. It interferes with you feeling love, compassion and kindness towards those in your life who you want to feel for. It leaves you feeling drained. It spills over into hostility towards smaller frustrations and distresses in your world like faulty printers, red traffic lights, irritating children, and late buses.

If you cannot feel love for the inner being of the person (as distinct from their current behaviour and present personality), you will benefit from at least taking your energy out of that relationship altogether. If possible, it will help you to free yourself from negativity by removing yourself from relating to that person; if necessary, it will still help in so far as you remove yourself inwardly while doing what you for whatever reasons "have to" outwardly with them.
