Any real classics such as Homer or Plato are pretty tough going and tedious in places. i would suggest reading "later" classics first as a way of breaking in slowly. why not try epic poems such as 'Paradise Lost' or 'The Faerie Queene' which are closely based on classics such as 'The Aeneid' and 'The Iliad'. After reading these, you may find it easier to get to grips with earlier classics. Buy a good edition of each book which will include explanatory notes as you go through, if not you can find a lot of help on the internet. Hope this is helpful for a starting block! good luck!
