Yes, he will most likely grow back his scales, not that the lack of scales will affect him greatly. He is slightly more likely to get a sickness though.

Put some melafix in the tank to help it heal.

Squirrels: Ick is a parasite that looks like salt grains, it attaches to the fish. Ick does not make the scales fall off. Why do you people all have some strange idea as to what ick is? It drives me nuts when everybody stupidly diagnosis everything as ick.

unless the fish hasnt fought with any other fish then i suggest that you keep the fish under observation and you may even move the fish to a hospital tank.make sure that if you re tranferring the fish make sure that the fish is transffered with its pair or mate or else it may fret and eventually die..i suggest you change the fish's diet and feed it some live worms so that it may get a high level of protein.you may also try organic food that is available in markets..your fish will be just fine

your fish is fine, unless its fungus or bacteria that are eating away at the fish. Are your fish fighting? this could also be the cause of missing scales. if the skin/scales looks like its disintegrating off, this is bad. but i've seen plenty of big bad tough cichlids who nip at each other all day, ultimately removing a few scales in the process.

I would get some pimafix/melafix from your LFS...it's made by API...it's all natural.....and it should help your fish fight off n e infections(bacterial/fungal) that might result from being injured....as far as "healing" the scales....time will do that.

p.s. I think stress coat would also be a good addition to your tank while your fishy is injured.

Watch for fuzzy stuff (fungus), mine lost some scales when it got stuck behind a rock and they grew back without medication. Keep the water very clean Remove what ever caused the scales to come off or it will happen agian.

Your fish should be fine as long as he is otherwise healthy and your water quality is good. I would recomend treating him with something like melafix, just to make sure the area doesn't get infected.

usually not a big deal as long as the area does not get infected. fish can regenerate areas quite well, but i dont remember any of mine actually regrowing scales. the area will fill in though

yes it does go to your pet store and ask some body how to treat this problem. Your fish can be open to disease and could die.
