I never thought about why it's curly, but it seems like even straight hair would "give" when it comes into contact with something. Maybe it's curly to keep it fairly short, so it doesn't get caught in zippers. As much.

good theory.. although the do get caught between the teeth.. a little too often.. not to mention.. when your munching some carpet.. and you get one stuck in the back of your throat.. damn tha man.. feel like Garfield with a fur ball for about an hour...
