You're gonna have to get over the shyness, my dear. It's good preparation for the birth and then the lack of privacy from your children. (You can't even go to the toilet without an audience - and I mean closeup!!! LOL)
Try to stay as natural as possible. Get the name of a GOOD naturopath (don't take a friend's word, ring an advice line if possible - my experience is that most people don't know what a good doctor/chiropractor/naturopath IS) and stay away from drugs if possible. Of course, go for it if nothing else works. YOU need to be comfortable too!
Try prune juice. Prunes have a natural laxative effect. I have a friend who suffers terribly from constipation and needs to take prune juice daily. So try it DAILY! Once only wont do the trick.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check most things in consultation with your OBS/GYN. Conflict is not healthy in a pregnancy, so make sure your doctor is open to natural remedies too (so they don't pooh-pooh the naturopath (or whoever's) advice.
Please visit the attached link - you can get further results other than what I've tagged by performing your own search (under "birthsearch") for "constipation".
Good luck!

I am sure the doctor has heard much worse things before. Just keep the baby's health in mind and nothing should embarrass you. Plus in around 30 weeks the doctor will be seeing a lot more of you on the delivery table. Pregnancy for my wife and I was the most wonderful experience. Don't let this shyness make the next 7 months hard on you and your baby. Healthy happy mom= healthy happy baby. Good luck to you and your baby.

take the laxative and have a high in fibre diet whilst pregnant.
Goodluck :)
Remember things like this happen to every other women so don't be too shy to tell your doctor things, and if you are maybe look at going and seeing another doctor that you may feel more comfortable with.

First, take the medicine your doctor prescribed you. You also need to tell him about all symptoms. Don't be embarrased, he is going to see EVERYTHING about you sooner or later. It's the doctors job. Also, after your initial medicine ask about taking stool softeners. I take Senecot. It helps sooooo much!! And also try to eat your fibers and fruits. But definately ask about the stool softeners so you don't get as constipated as before.

I would buy some Wheat Germ (it's with cereal usually) and add it to yogurt, soup, everything, pasta sauce, etc. It will get you going in no time, and until then, use Prep. H or store brand, it's safe and you want to get rid of those hemorrhoids before they get too bad, especially if you're bleeding.
Good luck and have a great pregnancy!

First I would tell your Dr. about your past problem he might end up giving you stronger meds. If you don't want to do that try a bowl of Granola every morning that what I do. You can make it or buy it. I make mine it's easy and tastes good.
