Girls have a thin bit of tissue called a hymen that covers the entrance to the vagina. The hymen has to be torn if penetration is to succeed. This hurts, but only for a few seconds.
If you have continuous pain during intercourse, something is wrong, and you'd need to see a doctor.

It's not normal to feel pain during sex. If you experience pain it may be because there is insufficient lubrication. There are various lubricants available such as KY jelly that can help with this but frankly if a woman who hasn't reach the menopause and doesn't have any other medical problems isn't sufficiently lubricated it's because she doesn't really want to have sex. At least not just yet. That's the guy's fault, he needs find out what will turn her on and shouldn't be so damn impatient, selfish git!

If the problem isn't one of lubrication then it is best to seek medical advice, something is clearly not going as it should be.

Maybe you are just not ready yet, or your partner isn't really the one for you. Relax and think of it as the most wonderful feeling on earth and that the person that you are with is the best thing since sliced bread. It'll get easier as you mature more

it will hurt less if you stretch it out slowly. to start off, try inserting the back end of a ball point pen, then try a finger, then 2 fingers. before long you'll be able to use tampons, and have sex without pain. you may feel some pain if/when the hymen tears, but if you stretch it out bit by bit it won't be so bad.

It shouldn't hurt at all, you need to see a doctor. The first time I had intercourse it didn't hurt at all.

If you are a virgin, it will probably hurt like hell!! Once you have engaged in intercourse a few times, it will become quite enjoyable (that's why so many are "doing" it)!
