They are based on totally arbitrary patterns in the sky - to be fair when they were named people thought they were actual two dimensional patterns.

Why? They thought stars were little points of light on the celestial sphere - a big crystal shell surrounding the earth which they confidently knew was the centre of the Universe.

Given that they're actually three dimensional the stars composing the so-called patterns have nothing in common and only look like that from our position in the galaxy.

All of this being the case, its hard to understand why people choose to be ignorant and superstitious enough to believe in astrology.

the chinese system goes by the year you born in. like im 1992 im the monkey. i think typical astrology is more accurate in my opinion. but here is info about the snake Diplomatic and popular, the Snake has the sensual art of seduction down. This Sign is an interesting mix of gregariousness paired with introversion, intuitive reasoning paired with savvy business skills. Snakes are considered to be lucky with money and will generally have more than enough to live life to the fullest, regardless of how important it considers money to be; this may be due to the fact that Snakes tend to be rather tight with cash. They're not stingy, they're simply more mentally than physically active. Snakes tend to hang back a bit in order to analyze a situation before jumping into it. Their charming, seductive quality actually belies a rather retiring nature; this Sign is perfectly happy to spend the whole day curled up with a good book and, thus, can be mislabeled as being lazy.
