They think this kind of thing for the same reason Thomas Jefferson said this:
"Nothing is more unequal than equal treatment of unequal people."
I don't agree with that statement - but that's not what you asked, you asked why. And, from their perspective, that's it there. They're simply better. Now quick I'd better go before I start on how wrong that is! I'd be here all day...

It's human nature. Everyone thinks their own opinon is superior, even those that believe they are worthless. No one else can tell them otherwise.
