If your ideal mate and situation involves you having a woman who can cook and take care of the home while you work, then honestly it may be time to look elsewhere. However, you have to look at what is truly important in a relationship to you. People can learn to cook, you could learn to cook. The inability for someone this very second to cook is quite minor, and is something that can be learnt. I think you should talk to her, mention your concerns and see what each of you is looking for in a relationship.

Well, some people just can't cos they make a mess of whatever meal they prepare... even the simplest of meals like fried eggs and ham. I've come to understand that not everyone can actually cook, so it's fair to say that they can't despite learning to do so. Construction workers could ask you to build houses, and I'm sure most people can't do it even if they learn.

On the other hand, there are others who claim they can cook but in reality..their cooking is better served down the toilet. The worse thing is when you paid for it.
It does take a little bit of gut, instinct, curiousity and desire to cook. Everybody can cook anything, even just boil water and stick instant noodles in it, but the real question is - can they cook well?

Don't know, I took a cooking course once with no experience and I did decent from the get go. It's all following directions, and keeping watch. Not saying I make great meals, they're adequate, not bad tasting or anything

Some people just don't want to learn to cook. I don't like to say I "can't" do anything either. I just go ahead and do it. =)

I think a lot of people are afraid of trying something they haven't been successful at before. The trouble is, you have to try something before you can be successful at it the first time. And you fail sometimes when you're first learning something. Maybe too many people stopped with failure and decided they "can't."

When I say I can't cook, I mean 'I haven't learned yet and I'm not planning to do it very soon either'
