The word "homeland" harkens back to the days of the Nazi party, and the rainbow warning system is a joke. Give it up already.

Bust out the dictionary and look up the word "harken". An attack on the poor wording of the department is not a comparison to the actions of Nazi Germany. Come on... homeland, fatherland, don't tell me you didn't see where I was going.

First read up on a little bit. It is lot more than a warning system.

From wiki:

"The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), commonly known as Homeland Security, is a Cabinet department of the Federal Government of the United States with the responsibility of protecting the territory of the United States from terrorist attacks and responding to natural disasters.

Whereas the Department of Defense is charged with military actions abroad, the Department of Homeland Security works in the civilian sphere to protect the United States within, at, and outside its borders. Its goal is to prepare for, prevent, and respond to domestic emergencies, particularly terrorism.

With approximately 184,000 employees, DHS is the third largest cabinet department in the U.S. federal government after the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs. Homeland security policy is coordinated at the White House by the Homeland Security Council, with Frances Townsend as the Homeland Security Advisor. Other agencies with significant homeland security responsibilities include the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Energy."

Thank you for your time, and I am glad to help you with your question.

It was put into existence by the 911 commission. Strange that people have either forgotten that day or think it wasn't so bad. We must have a coordinated department to keep everyone on the same page in communications. To even compare it to Hitlers Germany, shows the ignorance of the person. I know you don't believe it , but, there are people out there that want to destroy the United states. They want to eliminate our Christian values and beliefs. We must do everything in our power to stop it and protect our Freedom.

I thought I was the only one who felt that way. Every time I hear Homeland, I think of Hitler talking about the Fatherland. This administration is as close to a dictatorship as we should ever allow.

No we don't need it, we can just deny the threat of terrorism like Carter and Clinton and wait until a republican is president and blame them for everything. The sad thing is we have a constitution that protects citizens (not the terrorists) and the left's idea of a Nazi America will never happen because of that fact.

to compare "homeland" to the nazi party really makes you look stupid. this is our homeland. hitler also used tanks and planes. shall we disband them fearing we are nazis bc he used them? i guess you favor ignoring the problem?maybe put it into the hands of congress waiting til they vote on something of importance all the while our enemy is advancing? do you think homeland security is just about the warning system? you re small minded and need educated. first responders have been given millions to get what they need to react, border states have been given money to secure them. if they wasted their money, take it up with state officials, not the feds

It should be called Department of Homeland Insecurity.

I like to think of them as "department of homeland Nazi Gestapo"

No we do not need them, they are an over reaching, over reacting, thought police type of organization.

They really are the foundation of "big brother" from 1984.

Do you have a better idea? Unless you have a better one we need to keep the one we have.
