more info would be helpful such as are they being replace because of low pressure / volume? not working at all? type of fuel pump being installed? do you also replace filters when changing pump?

here are somethings to do:
1 always replace fuel pump with factory pump.
2 don't let fuel level fall below 1/4, the fuel actual cools the fuel pump. the lower the level gets below a 1/4 tank the warmer the fuel pump gets which can cause premature pump failure.
3 change fuel filter every 15000 to 20000 miles
4 check your fuel quality. moisture and contaminates in fuel can also cause premature pump failure.

if vehicle sits for long periods of time without use start it and let it run a few minutes each week. long periods of non use can cause pump shaft to stick more so if fuel quality is bad.

other problems that could appear to be bad fuel pump:
fuel filter dirty.
fuel filter installed backwards.
fuel line bad and causing blockage.
fuel pressure relief valve, located on fuel rail.
fuel pump relay.
wiring going to fuel pump.
fuel injectors dirty.

I find it good to use a bottle of fuel injector clean in a full tank every 3 months to keep fuel system good.

Are you using genuine GM fuel pumps? As hard as modern fuel pumps are to change I sure wouldnt use some cheap aftermarket pump. Are you a person who is always running the tank near empty? If so that may be your problem. When the tank starts getting low the fuel pump has to work all the harder. The octane of gas you use makes no differance. I have replaced my fuel pump one time in 276000 miles and the replacement one is still going strong. I use 87 octane gas with no problems.

there is a great deal of not person-friendly artwork in getting that activity carried out and the cooling equipment should be flushed after that element also. i only did a water pump on a 1999 ford contour and it develop right into somewhat worked given the area of that pump. when I were given lower back domicile, i develop into sore from my belt to my elbows for some days. a water pump could very last about one hundred,000 miles extra or less. i'd have charged about that a lot also. if that pump is inner to the block in the back of a canopy, the fee is going up on the difficulty of the not person-friendly artwork in touch.

I had the same problem till I was told to only keep the gas 1/4 from being empty if that..and to use the best grade of gas. I guess when you allow your gas tank to go near empty often or you use cheap quality gas you make your gas pump work harder causing it to fail quickly. Oh yeah make sure you are using a good mechanic as well and that your not getting screwed over. Hope this helped :)

I suggest you buy an aftermarket electric fuel pump and mount it somewhere in the engine compartment.
It will do the same job as a GM part and cost you 1/2 the price, and who knows... maybe solve the problem?

Sorry, not enough information. Gasoline? Diesel? What made you suspect the fuel pump needed to be changed?
