I like how people say that psychologists are "brain washers." People have free will. They make the conscious decision to come into therapy. They make the conscious decision to stay in therapy. People can choose whether or not they want to follow the psychologist's advice or even to listen to what the psychologist is saying. If they don't like it or feel that the psychologist is too directive, all they have to do is withdraw from therapy. No one is keeping them there.
I completely object to the statement that psychosis is for the "weak." Psychosis is a biological and neurological problem. I didn't realize that having a disease is caused by being weak-minded. Make sure that you tell a person with breast cancer that she got it because she was weak minded.
Can psychology be dangerous? Yes. I will admit that there are some less than kosher psychologists out there that will do more damage than good. But these individuals are few and far between. There are so many safety mechanisms put into place to ensure that "quacks" don't get to practice. Required ethics courses. Comprehensive exams. Video and audiotaped supervision. Licensing exams and state licensure boards. Ethics boards. The American Psychological Association. Lawyers.
Yes, some psychologists can be considered "dangerous," but there are thousands more that do a lot of good for people.

only for the weak individuals of those who may get a psychosis themselves from listening to so many oddballs and their probs otherwise its nice to help people.. see things in a different perspective. With the way the world has codependents tho, and bi-polar-ism, and schizos out there ya have to realize the scary part is ya cant fix them and i wouldn't want any to be coming to me and threatening me when i touch a nerve. so that is the dangerous part. the repercussions if u get maniac on your list. so chose something else to help people certainly you can make 90 an hr at something else safer.

Maybe if you dont have enough information about a certain topic, then someone can mislead you. Don't see psychology as being dangerous, but then can you explain more, if you can.
