a PhD is a post-graduate degree; a Doctor of Philosophy. You can get one in nearly any field. Most tracks require that you first attain your Bachelor's degree (4 year) and your Master's degree (2-3 year) before beginning a PhD program, but some universities allow you to skip the Master's step and go straight through. However, this usually makes your PhD program longer.
To get the degree, you'll likely have to sit through a comprehensive exam after you've completed your courseload. This will involve answering questions about your field - and it's difficult! You'll also write a dissertation about a subject in which you're interested. You'll likely have a committee of professors to help advise you through the process, which makes things a bit easier. Still, it's a lot of work, a lot of money, and a lot of time devoted. But for some, it's very worth it!
Look at your field of study, determine what you want to do with your career and what level of education you want to attain. Talk to PhD students in the field you're interested in and to professors in the department. They will be able to give you a more detailed idea of what will be expected of you. Good luck!

PhD means physician of philosphy. because that is the abbreviation for the Latin "Philosophia physician" so that is written as PhD somewhat than DPh! in addition physician of medication and surgical treatment is written as MBBS somewhat than DMDS!! Philosphers take lot of time to analyze and comprehend different recommendations, beliefs and theories proper to a subject matter so draw close in any field might want to be presented with PhD degree. yet pay attention of philosophizing anthing because that is a derogatory note!
