It depends upon what you really want. A hacker is an adept problem solver. If you're looking for someone to perform unethical activities in the computer environment, then you're looking for a "cracker" (think "safe cracker").

If you want a "hacker", use google to find online forums, irc channels and email lists that focus on the type of task you want to accomplish.

If you're looking for a "cracker", ask yourself the following questions:

1. Do you want to become a victim of a cyber crime? Unethical people cannot be trusted. (Duh!)

2. Do you want to be arrested and/or have your computer equipment confiscated? Associating yourself with crackers will allow them to perform illegal activities using your computer!

Here's a good quote from Eric Raymond: "There is another group of people who loudly call themselves hackers, but aren't. These are people (mainly adolescent males) who get a kick out of breaking into computers and phreaking the phone system. Real hackers call these people `crackers' and want nothing to do with them. Real hackers mostly think crackers are lazy, irresponsible, and not very bright, and object that being able to break security doesn't make you a hacker any more than being able to hotwire cars makes you an automotive engineer."

You mean a Hacker or do you mean Cracker? A real Hacker is a jack of all trades Programmer whos job for example is working on The Linux or BSD Kernels or Mailing Lists he is not a criminal or does anything illegal at all. A Cracker is a Criminal who breaks into systems he has no buisness being on if your looking for the Criminal sorry can't help you but if your looking for the Programmer you can find their e-mail on the their webpage or developer sight or mailing list.
