Las Vegas is a great place to vacation. Where else do they give you rooms/food/shows/drinks for free, then, let you take their money home with you, and, invite you back to do the same...

Check out the Las Vegas Advisor site below for lists of things to do including. The free spectacles, shows(some great shows in LV for under $30) , awesome buffets, $1 beer and hotdogs(Slots-A Fun>now that's a dog).

The hotels alone are worth the trip, Caesars Palace and the Forum Shops(leave all credit cards at home haha) the Venetian, Luxor, NY NY, Paris, Bellagio, Wynn, Mandalay Bay. Why it's just amazing what the can build now for a few billion dollars.

Even for the first time visitor, you can take advantage of LV. Do a little research, avoid special events and large conventions and you will save a bundle. Sunday through Thursday is also much cheaper than Friday and Saturday.

if you are months away from your planned vacation. Find a good rate, if you find the rate on line rather than with the hotel, see if the hotel will price match the rate. Hold the room, then keep on looking for a better rate. LV isn't like anyplace else when it comes to rooms rates.

I would not recommend the Excalibur, unless you are traveling with children under the age of 12, in that case the Excalibur would be a good spot..You can do so much better, at hotels in the same price range.

Since I don't have your exact dates, it would be difficult to give you and exact comparison. Like I said room rates bounce all over the place in LV. But, "generally" speaking hotels such at Luxor, Monte Carlo, Aladdin, Flamingo, Harrah's would have a similar price range and are nicer hotels. "take the time to "add details" to your Q and I will see what I can come up with if you have a set date(or even a general idea of when you want to go)

Excalibur is on the far South end of the Strip and the Stratosphere is on the far North end of the strip and is uaually half the price, I would stay at the Strat before I would stay at Excalibur...And, yes I have stayed at both. Since I spend 4-6 weeks a year in LV and have for over 20 years, at one time or another I have stayed at most of the larger hotels.

Orleans> while it's not on the strip, is a very nice place and a great value. http://www.orleanscasino.com >one of my favorites & the Coast hotels will price match any online price you find for their hotel.

Well I live in a scenic area of NH and I loved Los Vegas.

If you are looking for a vacation where there are tons of things to do. Las Vegas is great choice.

Touring the hotels is great entertainment. Where else can you see New York, Paris and Italy all in one place. :) Plus volcanos, and tigers.

There is also the Hoover Dam near by which is a wonderful tour. Also Ethel's Candy factory where they not only make candy but have a water filtration plant on the premise. It was interesting to see the various stages of water purification.

There is also the Neon Museum and the Fremont Street Experience.

We stayed at Treasure Island and really enjoyed it.

Not familar with the Excalibur, I don't think there are many "bad" hotels in Vegas, there is too much competition.

Yes, Vegas is Awesome!
And I would stay at the Excalibur before I would stay at the Stratsophere. If you look at a map, you can see that the Strat is way north of anything in walking distance. That is why you get a good rate. At least with the Excalibur, you are close to the NYNY and can walk to the other casinos. I didn't notice alot of kids at the Excalibur, they mostly go to Circus Circus when they bring kids there.

"Absolutely" on it being a good place to go on vacation! Vegas is one of the best places on earth to vacation. It's hands-down my favorite. There is so much to do, you couldn't possibly take it all in without living there for an extended period of time.

As for Excalibur, it's in a decent location but there are much better hotels in Vegas where you can stay. If the southern part of the strip is your desired location, you'd probably enjoy Luxor, Monte Carlo, NYNY, or Mandalay Bay much more. If you'd rather be in the heart of all the action (center strip), try the Mirage or Venetian.

Don't think twice about going to Vegas. Just book your trip. Chances are you'll be planning your trip back while you're still there. Cheers!

It really depends on your personality. Some people love it, and some don't. People who like to be surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and don't like alot of excitement, usually don't.
If you like gambling, drinking, lots of pretty lights, a sexually charged atmosphere, lots of shows, and a town that never sleeps, then nothing compares to Vegas.
I've never stayed at the Excalibur, but I have been in it's casino. Very nice. From what I've heard the Excalibur is a fine hotel.
